Proud sponsor of the CA Pepsi Youth Bowling Championships since 2000!

The Pepsi USBC Youth Championships is a multi-level nation-wide qualifying championship event that begins with league level qualifying. Bowling centers with certified USBC Youth leagues are automatic qualifying sites. Since this tournament is a benefit of USBC membership, there is no entry fee at the league level. Every youth bowler should be given their FREE chance to qualify.

LEAGUE LEVEL QUALIFYING (NOV/JAN)
Ten age divisions will qualify from League competition to District competition during two league-level qualifying periods held in November and January each year (two-weeks each). Please contact your District Director if your league has a bye during this period. We can allow a shift in your qualifying dates either one week earlier or one week later. Official Pepsi Worksheets for league level qualifying are provided in this handout. A minimum of ONE(1) inevery TWO (2) entries per division will advance to the District Finals using scratch scores. A sample worksheet is provided for reference. November worksheets are due December 31. January worksheets and full payment or any balances are due February 18. BLS and Treasure Software are optional pc applications that can generate Pepsi worksheets. Be sure to update the software with ratios and qualifying dates. All qualifying in the Pepsi Championships are based on scratch scores.

Pepsi competition is held in divisions based on the bowler’s date of birth:

*Bowlers can opt to move up in division, but must sign a waiver to do so at the league level qualifying level. This is suggested only for those that want the opportunity to qualify into the State Finals (U12, U15 & U20).

DISTRICT FINALS – MARCH

California is divided into eight (8) Districts based on location and local USBC associations. Each district runs their own District Finals, which is staggered between two separate weekends (4 District Finals per weekend). District Directors will process and verify all paperwork. Centers are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. See tournament packet (pink sheet) for District site locations, format and District Director contact information.

District Finals Format: 3 games scratch on the same pair of lanes. One-time entry. Scratch and handicap scholarships are awarded to the U8 and U10 divisions based on a ratio of at least one (1) in ten (10) — they do not advance to the State Finals. First place scratch finishers in the U12, U15 and U20 divisions will earn a $50 scholarship, handicap scholarships and are also competing to qualify (scratch) to the Pepsi State Finals.

• U8 & U10 Division Champions (Boy/Girl) will earn a FREE entry into the 2018 Youth State Championships in July (Keystone Lanes, Norwalk; 4 Champions x 8 Districts = 32 entries).

• U12, U15 & U20 top finishers (Boy/Girl) will earn berths into the 2018 Diddy Watts State Singles Challenge(6 Divisions x 8 Districts = 48 Berths; Aug; Rancho Bowl, Santa Maria).

• California offers a Separate handicap scholarship division per the same age divisions – automatic entry for everyone (100% of 210)

STATE FINALS – MAY

Bowlers will advance from District to State based on a ratio of at least 1:5, or major fraction thereof, including last place ties per division using scratch scores.  ALL BOWLERS MUST CHECK ONLINE AT CALUSBC.COM TO SEE IF THEY ARE STATE QUALIFIERS and MUST REGISTER THEIR SQUAD TIME during the Pepsi RSVP period. Those who fail to register their squad time without prior notification to the Tournament Director, will forfeit their spot into the tournament.

State Finals Format: 6 games moving pairs after each game. One-time entry.  All divisions are competing for scratch scholarships (1:10 ratio) and one of six FREE berths into the USBC Junior Gold Championships each year (if they have not already qualified).

•    $10 ON-SITE ENTRY FEE. This will allow more scholarship dollars to be awarded.

•    California offers an optional handicap scholarship division (100% of 210) ON-SITE.
