BVL Committee – The Bowlers to Veterans Link Hospitals and Presentations Report
On behalf of the bowlers in California, the BVL Committee has donated the amount of $157,395 to the following Veterans Centers in California. A donation of $350 was made to the National BVL Program. The California BVL Fund has donated over $8,013,608.38 to our California Veterans. We want to thank all of you for your continued support of the California BVL.
We have completed all of the donations for this year and hope many of you will have a chance to visit a facility in your area. After meeting and talking with the directors and team leaders, we know how proud they are of their facilities and they would all welcome your visit.
The following is the breakdown of the donations:
| $ 10,000 | VA Northern California Healthcare System – (includes outpatient clinics in Martinez, Fairfield, Mare Island, Oakland, Redding, Chico and McClellan) to provide entertainment and recreation activities and provide community re-entry to patients in the day treatment program. Provide travel, lodging and meals for participation in the National Games. |
| $ 20,000 | VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System – (includes outpatient clinics in Sepulveda, Downtown, LAAC, Bakersfield and Santa Barbara) Provide items for the Nursing Home and the new welcome center for the returning Iraqi Vets. |
| $ 1,500 | Los Angles Veterans Resource Center – Thanksgiving and Christmas parties, bus tokens, field trips and refreshments for the veterans. |
| $ 1,500 | Concord Veterans Center – Library/Museum fund, refreshments, holiday parties, and stand down program for homeless vets. |
| $ 1,700 | Fresno Veterans Center – Christmas party and bowling tournament. |
| $ 2,000 | Peninsula Veterans Center – Holiday party, BBQ’s, refreshments. |
| $ 2,245 | San Jose Veterans Center – Holiday party, television, dry eraser marker board. |
| $ 2,000 | Vista Veterans Center – Holiday party, tee shirts, and bus passes. |
| $ 2,000 | West Los Angeles Veterans Center – Holiday parties, excursion trips and refreshments. |
| $ 8,000 | Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center – (includes Palm Desert, Blythe, Sun City, Victorville and Upland VA Clinics) Recreation activities and therapy such as Wheelchair Games, Golden Age Games, Winter Sports Clinic and Creative Arts Festival, Women’s veterans program, and Patient Courtesy cart. |
| $ 8,000 | VA Long Beach Healthcare System – Patient satellite entertainment system, popcorn machine w/stand, and snow-storm machine w/stand. |
| $ 6,000 | VA San Diego Healthcare System – Recreation off-site outings to help patients develop skill levels for leisure actives. |
| $ 8,000 | San Francisco VA Medical Center – Camping experience for the blind. Bowling fund, recreation activities, bowling activities, coffee fund, hygiene kits and holiday parties. |
| $ 2,000 | Anaheim Veterans Center – Display case for Veteran Memorabilia. |
| $ 2,000 | Eureka Veterans Center – Party supplies, sporting events, refreshments, news subscription and homeless fund. |
| $ 2,000 | North Bay Veterans Center – Outings, art supplies, computer and printer. |
| $ 2,000 | Oakland Veterans Center – Homeless and socialization funds. |
| $ 2,000 | Corona Veterans Center – Holiday parties & homeless veteran’s baskets. |
| $ 2,000 | Sacramento Veterans Center – Holiday party, hygiene kits, and bowling activities. |
| $ 2,000 | San Bernardino Veterans Center – Holiday party, Internet access, outreach to homeless vets and achievement awards. |
| $ 2,000 | Santa Cruz Veterans Center – Annual Veterans Day and Memorial Day events, rehab BBQ, holiday party, and homeless Veterans Event in May. |
| $ 4,000 | Veterans Home of California, Barstow – Winter Games, Golden Age games, holiday parties and crafts. |
| $ 27,000 | Veterans Home of California, Yountville – Labor, maintenance and replacing of parts for the bowling center. |
| $ 5,000 | Veterans Home of California, Chula Vista – Golden Age Games, Senior Olympics, various activities both on and off campus. |
| $ 12,000 | VA Palo Alto Healthcare System – National wheelchair sports clinic and games for spinal cord injured patients and visually impaired. Bowling activities and DSL internet service. |
| $ 9,650 | VA Central California Healthcare System – Picnic and party supplies, sporting equipment, bowling activities, community outings, a popcorn machine, crafts, and Golden Age games. |
| $ 2,000 | Naval Medical Center, San Diego – Emergency fund for transportation. |
| $ 2,000 | San Francisco Veterans Center – Softball, Holiday parties for returning vets. |
| $ 2,000 | San Diego Veterans Center – Coffee fund, Tee shirts and social activities. |
| $ 2,000 | East Los Angeles Vet Center – Holiday parties, coffee fund, Healthy Lifestyle picnics, purchase and install vent for stove in Vets center and purchase a Digital camera w/memory stick. |
| $ 2,800 | California Bowling Writers – Phone Cards for the soldiers to use for the holidays. |
