2024 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – DAWSON

TY DAWSON

Ty Dawson was born in Muskegon, Mich., in 1953. His family moved to Riverside, Calif., in 1958. He began bowling at Tava Lanes at the age of 9, and his first 300 game was recorded in 1979, at Delrosa Lanes in San Bernardino. Dawson now has a total of 101-300’s, one of the highest totals in the country.

Dawson’s accomplishments in his 41 years as a USBC member are many, including 54-800 plus scores — the highest being an 844 in tournament action at Yosemite Lanes. He moved to Northern California in 1989, but that didn’t stop his assault on league and tournament records. PAM PANCOAST

Pam Pancoast is a native Californian, currently residing in Lomita. She started bowling at the age of 9 and has never looked back, averaging over 190 in her twenties and over 200 for the past 30+ years. Pam has always been athletic, enjoying many sports, including owning a horse for 24 years. She didn’t start competitive bowling until her thirties and credits her husband, Jon, with her focus and success. “I would never have been as competitive in bowling were it not for my husband,” said Pancoast. 2024 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – WARNING

BOB WARNING

Bob Warning began bowling as a 12 year old at Sun City Bowl in 1978. He remembers wanting to be a pro bowler since the age of 17. “It was all I ever wanted to do,” said the 33 year USBC member from Menifee. 

In 1991 he won the Cal State Masters, beating the likes of Jim Murtishaw, Alvin Lou and Marv Sargent. Nine years later he would join those men in capturing the Cal State Scratch Team Championship. 2023 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – BUNETTA

BILL BUNETTA

Bill Bunetta has a long history with bowling starting in the 1960s. He was intrigued with instruction, development and coaching of many PBA members on the tour and became known as the “Professor”. Many of those that he helped became PBA Hall of Famers. Bill also implemented many rules and regulations that are still used today on the PBA tour including the top 5 stepladder finals format. 2020 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – MATHEWS

STEVE MATHEWS

Steve Mathews who is also from El Cajon, has been bowling since he was 4 years old and still loves the game. He worked his way up through the Youth Organizations and went adult when he turned 17. His bowling accomplishments are many!  He has 38-300 games and 33-800 series. He has a first place in the Cal State Open Championships in Team event (2014) and was inducted into the San Diego USBC Hall Of Fame in 2018 for Superior Performance.  Side note: Steve’s father Lou was also inducted into the CUSBC Hall of Fame for Superior Performance in 2017.

ALVIN LOU

Alvin Lou who lives in El Cajon, operates a Pro Shop locally and is still very active in bowling. He has 35-300 games, 9-800 series and has 1st place finishes in the Cal State Masters, Cal State Scratch All-events, Cal State Scratch Singles, and Cal State Scratch Doubles. Alvin also has 2 PBA National titles, 4 PBA Western Regionals titles, 6 PCB titles, and 6 WCST titles.

2019 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – SARGENT

MARV SARGENT

Marv Sargent, who was born in San Diego and raised in El Cajon started bowling at a young age and has never looked back! He joined adult leagues when he turned 17 and bowled his first Cal-State tournament in San Diego the next year. He has bowled in many State Tournaments since then and has done quite well! He boasts over 8-800’s, many 300’s, and a high average of 233. He was the P.B.A. Western Region Bowler of the Year in 2002. He has so many accomplishments there are too many to list here!

2018 HoF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – ENGLEHART

JOHNNIE ENGLEHART

Johnnie Englehart started bowling at the age of 6 in the hallway of his house. His father would set up plastic pins and he would knock ‘em down! Bowled in Bantam leagues at 6 and has not looked back!! He has bowled over 65 300 games and over 66 800 series. In 1987 he won the Men’s State Scratch All-Events and came in 2nd in 2004 in the same event. He was inducted into the LABA Hall of Fame for Performance in 2004. He has a high average of 246. His special moment was when his son Scott shot his first 300 and 800. Johnnie was there to watch it!! Johnnie also made it one for the record books when HE also shot a 300/800 series 8 lanes away!
