2025 Hall of Fame Inductee
WAYNE GARBER
Wayne Garber was born and raised in Modesto and began bowling at the age of four. His parents were responsible for introducing him to bowling at such an early age and encouraged his development by sending him to many Dick Ritger Bowling Camps.
Garber’s greatest achievement in his illustrious career came at the age of 42, when he made his first televised appearance in the Red, White and Blue Championship at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kansas. This came after falling down some stairs a few years earlier, tearing his patellar tendons on both legs.
Wayne began a fitness regimen after the fall that enabled him to perform at a level he had never before experienced, winning 11 PBA Regional Titles, becoming exempt for the national PBA Tour, and making two TV finals, the second in the PBA Mark Roth Plastic Ball Challenge at AMF Babylon Bowl in West Babylon, New York.
Here’s a quick look at Garber’s appearance in the Red, White and Blue Championship in Wichita, with his unique approach necessitated by the knee injuries. As announcer Rob Stone commented, “If it works, it works!”
Wayne has been married to wife Bonnie for 34 years. They have two boys, Brian and Will. In addition to all of his bowling achievements, Garber has also been general manager of Yosemite Lanes for the past 20 years.
Mr. Garber’s bowling accomplishments are too numerous to mention here, but we will hit the high notes with this summary:
- 11 PBA Regional Titles
- 168 Sanctioned 300 Games (including 15-300’s in PBA competition)
