2025 HOF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – ABOUD

2025 Hall of Fame Inductee
REGINA ABOUD

Regina Aboud was born in Oakland, Calif., and started bowling at Bay Fair Lanes, just south of Oakland in the city of San Leandro, at the age of 14. Her parents were both league bowlers and thought it would be an enjoyable sport for Regina.

At first Regina was not that good at bowling, because she was busy excelling in high school track and field, where she ran the 100 yard dash, the 4 x 100 relay, and long jump. She was also a forward on the girls basketball team.

One day the youth director at Bay Fair Lanes, Ilene Kohler, gave Regina one of her daughter’s old bowling balls and taught her how to throw a hook. She then participated in a few state tournaments and won some league titles, and was hooked.

Regina lists her greatest achievement in bowling as winning the International Golden Ladies Classic tournament in 2022. She’s a two time Cal State Doubles champion (once with Tera Hankins and once with Kristie Leong), and a two time Cal State Team Champion in consecutive years with teammates Bonnie Garber, Cathy Johnston and Kristie Leong.

Aboud’s highest league average of 227 was achieved at Morgan Hill Bowl in Morgan Hill, Calif., in 2013. She has a total of four 300 games, all at different locations: High Sierra Lanes, Reno, Nev., Pinz Bowling Center, Studio City, Calif., West Lanes Bowl, Stockton, Calif., and Morgan Hill Bowl.

In 1992 Regina won the prestigious Bill Rhodman National Championship in Aurora, Colorado. She repeated the feat five years later at the Bill Rhodman National Championship in Chicago. As you can see, Aboud is not a one house wonder.

Regina has been married to husband George Aboud for 30 years. They have two grown children: Danielle, age 26, who was a competitive dancer during her adolescent years; and Justin, age 23, who is a competitive bowler that bowled for Saint Ambrose University in Iowa, and also San Jose State University.

Aboud is a Senior Business Operations Manager for a major technology concern. She first met her husband George while they were bowling in a league at Alma Bowl in San Jose. They met again while participating in a 10 game event at Fiesta Lanes, also in San Jose. They began chatting as Regina was following George while crossing lanes. You might say that their marriage is one that was made on the bowling lanes!

Award was presented at the CUSBC Awards Dinner on May 31, 2025 at the Hilton Garden Inn Airport, San Jose.
