2018 HoF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – ENGLEHART

JOHNNIE ENGLEHART

Johnnie Englehart started bowling at the age of 6 in the hallway of his house. His father would set up plastic pins and he would knock ‘em down! Bowled in Bantam leagues at 6 and has not looked back!! He has bowled over 65 300 games and over 66 800 series. In 1987 he won the Men’s State Scratch All-Events and came in 2nd in 2004 in the same event. He was inducted into the LABA Hall of Fame for Performance in 2004. He has a high average of 246. His special moment was when his son Scott shot his first 300 and 800. Johnnie was there to watch it!! Johnnie also made it one for the record books when HE also shot a 300/800 series 8 lanes away!

EARNEST LOU GILLESS

Lou Gilless  was a late bloomer to bowling, not starting til he was in his 20’s at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, but he loved it and has served the bowling community for over 40 years!  Lou worked as a civil servant for the Department of Defense before retiring in 2001! Lou has been involved for many years in his local association and was also a Director on the State USBC for several years!

The Bowlers to Veterans Link Hospitals and Presentations Report 


On behalf of the bowlers in California, the CUSBC BVL Committee has donated $103,315.17 to the following Veterans Centers in California for 2016-17 season. Since 1959, the California BVL Fund has donated over $9,283,000 to our California Veterans.  We want to thank all of you for your continued support of the California BVL.

On August 19, 1930, Phyllis Joan, was the first and only child born to parents, Henry and Amie Battey, both since deceased. We spent most of my toddler years in El Monte, California. 2017 Senior Singles

The Senior Singles Tournament is open to all California USBC members at least 50 years of age at the time of participation in the tournament. The format is six games total + handicap. This tournament is held in a different location each year. Winners in set age classifications will qualify to the USBC National Seniors Tournament. Entry for the national event will be paid by the CUSBC.

JENNIFER LOREDO & MEGAN CARPENTER

JENNIFER LOREDO from Fresno is one of two recipients for this year’s award. Jennifer is a 3.5 GPA freshman attending Clovis West High School.  Her aspirations are to open her own business so a college education in business administration and management is a must. She is looking into Wichita State, Webber International, McKendree University, Stephen F. Austin, Vanderbilt University, and Nebraska State University – all bowling colleges of course!
