The Senior Singles Tournament is open to all California USBC members at least 50 years of age at the time of participation in the tournament. The format is six games total + handicap. This tournament is held in a different location each year. Winners in set age classifications will automatically qualify to the USBC National Seniors Tournament. Entry for the national event will be paid by the CUSBC.

In 1996, my daughter Samantha’s babysitter asks if Sam could join her daughter Jennifer at friendly hills to bowl in a league. Well my wife, Tommie, and I agreed it would be a good idea. So Sam joined her first bumper league. One day I want to see how everything was going at the bowling center. I did not know much about bowling them except that your arm is supposed to follow through to the top. Like when you raise your hand in class to answer a question. Sam wasn’t doing this so I asked her to brought her bowling ball up on the concourse and had an her to roll the ball to me and told her make sure her arm swings through all the way to the top. I guess that is where my coaching career started on the concourse at Friendly Hills. Continue reading 2012 WINNER
In May, 1964, Angelo and Edna Fanucchi purchased Granada Bowl in Livermore. Son Dennis, was just 19 years old, who would have believed that it started their son to a brilliant career that would span nearly five decades.
Dennis was extremely active in the Bowling Proprietors Association at all levels, local, state and national. He served as president in the local and state associations and two terms on the National Board.
His dedication to the bowling industry harvested him a career of service awards which included BPAA Presidents Award, induction to the Alameda County Bowling Association Hall of Fame. In 1999 he received the “Decade of Service Award” from the International Bowling Industry Magazine and the Bowling Management magazine in their 10th Anniversary issue name Dennis in the top ten of bowling proprietors in the country.
In the 1990’s and early 2000’s Granada Bowl hosted 3 State Tournaments, each time setting records for the most entries from one center. The records still stand today.
Dennis, his sister Sandy and brother-in-law Tom Crane sold Granada Bowl in 2008. They are all enjoying their retirement years.

RYAN PEDEN is a 17-year old senior at Sanger High School and a member of the Central California USBC Association. He has made his parents, Geoff and Darla, and grandparents Steve and Lillian most proud, for maintaining a straight “A” average currently at Sanger High. He is officially credited as 1 of 10 in 639 students with an overall weighted GPA of 4.171 and CSU GPA of 4.360. He is referred to by his educators as one of the brightest young men they have taught and described him as dedicated, enthusiastic, a team player, diligent and highly effective. KAREN SMITH was the inductee for Superior Performance. This gracious lady hailed from Godfrey, Illinois. As she grew up it was apparent that she was going to be a “Lefty” to her father’s dismay since he thought left handed people were at a disadvantage. This so disturbed him he even tried tying her arm behind her back to get her to change hands – to no avail. Strong willed and stubborn, Karen was determined to prove him wrong. She competed in baseball, softball, football, golf, horseshoes, shooting, badminton, shuffleboard, table tennis and bowling! She loved to compete. California USBC inducted three women into their Hall of Fame who were ardent supporters of bowling in California. NANCY ARVANITIS was inducted for Meritorious Service but having been exposed to bowling at a young age and tutored by her mother she has also made her mark as a bowler. She became a WIBC member at the age of eleven and later on while living on Long island in New York she had the thrill of having the famous Andy Veripapa offer to give her some pointers.
