The CALIFORNIA USBC (CAUSBC) Awards Program & “My 300 No-Tap Patch”

by Frank Weiler

Where is my 300 No-Tap Patch? I have rolled three 9-pin No-Tap perfect games and have never been recognized for this outstanding accomplishment! Most bowlers like a pat on the back and some form of recognition for doing something special. I am one of those bowlers. Where is my 300 No-Tap Patch? Why haven’t my Tournament Directors purchased No-Tap patches and pins for bowlers like me from the California USBC Association?

“CALIFORNIA BOWLERS ARE THE BEST BOWLERS IN THE WORLD” and they should be recognized for their achievements. The California State Bowling Association recognizes this and has an Awards Program to recognize Bowling achievements. There are lapel pins and emblem patches available for sale to recognize every conceivable bowling accomplishment. Local USBC Associations and Tournament Directors may purchase these awards at any time for awarding to adult and youth bowlers. These awards are available for seasonal and lifelong achievements.

It is “GOOD FOR BUSINESS” for local Associations, Tournaments and Bowling Centers to recognize and reward bowlers. Everyone speaks of player retention, so how about doing something to retain bowlers. How? Start by acknowledging every bowlers accomplishments.  Conduct award ceremonies and present Awards. The California State Association has a vast array of available Awards. My favorite is the 300 9-Pin No-Tap patch. Other Bowlers may favor the lapel pin available for a 9 pin No-Tap 300 game. I like the patch best because the dark purple characters on a bright yellow background are very visible and distinctive. Great for showing off. You to can “SHOW-OFF” by earning a pin or patch from CAUSBC.

These Awards are well made. The cloisonné lapel pins are 1 inch with a gold finish on a steel base metal with a clutch back attachment. The emblem patches are 3 inches, made with a washable twill material with a thermal-plastic backing.

There is a wide variety of Awards available. There are Awards for  games of 100 to 289 and for three game series of 300 to 700. Also, there are Awards for splits made, strikes, unique games and “SOUR APPLES”.
