The Superior Performance recipient is Lou Mathews from the San Diego USBC. He has been a ABC/USBC member for over 53 years and has bowled in over 40 California State Championships. He has a high average of 229 and over 10 certified 300 games. He also owns three 800 series with 827 as his high. In 2008 his team won the CUSBC Open Championship team event! He continues to be very active bowling in San Diego and California area tournaments.
Bruce Pederson is our recipient for Superior Performance. He bowls out of the North County USBC and is also a director on their board. His highest average was a 221 and he has over ten certified 300 games with three 800 series. He has participated in over 30 State Championships and continues to bring teams yearly to the Championships! He is very involved in the All Military Bowling Championships and has won (2) All United States Marine Corp Regionals. He received the 2005 BPAA Golden Pin Award for customer retention for a 32 lane center. The best part is he’s also a really GREAT individual on and off the lanes.
The Meritorious Service recipient is Roy Stuart who hails from Los Angeles and has been active in bowling since the early 1970’s. He has bowled in 33 State Championships and has coordinated teams to bowl in the State Championships for many years. He was instrumental in establishing participants for the Southern California Men’s Bowling Club and Open Men’s State Championships. Due to declining health Mr. Stuart doesn’t bowl any more but his vision and ability to provide direction for bowlers continues.

The Bowlers to Veterans Link Hospitals and Presentations Report
On behalf of the bowlers in California, the CUSBC BVL Committee has donated $102,966.17 to the following Veterans Centers in California for 2015-16 season. Since 1959, the California BVL Fund has donated over $9,180,000 to our California Veterans. We want to thank all of you for your continued support of the California BVL.
JULIA FRIAS from Winnetka is our newest recipient of the California Youth State Scholarship for $500. Julia is currently a senior in high school and has been bowling since the age of 7. WESLEY LOW, JR SELECTED AS 2016 STAR OF TOMORROW WINNER
This year’s Star of Tomorrow is awarded to WESLEY LOW, JR. He is presently a student at Wichita State University working toward a degree in Business. He would like to pursue his love of bowling by becoming a professional bowler. He is also hoping to pursue a job in the bowling industry using the business degree that he will have. While in High School he maintained a grade point average of 3.6 and was Palmdale’s Highland High School Valedictorian and Golden State Seal Merit Award Recipient. He currently has a Grade Point Average of 3.76 at Wichita State University and holds a 244 average. He has 12 800 series with a high of 833, and has bowled 12 300 games. None other than our infamous WESLEY LOW, JR from Palmdale has earned this special award. Wesley will receive a $500 scholarship and a free entry into the 2017 or 2018 CA State Open Championships.
