CALIFORNIA USBC SELECTS PEDEN
FOR 2012 STAR OF TOMORROW SCHOLARSHIP

RYAN PEDEN is a 17-year old senior at Sanger High School and a member of the Central California USBC Association.  He has made his parents, Geoff and Darla, and grandparents Steve and Lillian most proud, for maintaining a straight “A” average currently at Sanger High. He is officially credited as 1 of 10 in 639 students with an overall weighted GPA of 4.171 and CSU GPA of 4.360.  He is referred to by his educators as one of the brightest young men they have taught and described him as dedicated, enthusiastic, a team player, diligent and highly effective.  His tenacity and hard work, such as choosing to take five Advanced Placement classes his senior year, has made him a Continue reading 2012 SoT WINNER

2012 HoF SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE RECIPIENT – SMITH

KAREN SMITH

KAREN SMITH was the inductee for Superior Performance.  This gracious lady hailed from Godfrey, Illinois.  As she grew up it was apparent that she was going to be a “Lefty” to her father’s dismay since he thought left handed people were at a disadvantage.  This so disturbed him he even tried tying her arm behind her back to get her to change hands – to no avail.  Strong willed and stubborn, Karen was determined to prove him wrong.  She competed in baseball, softball, football, golf, horseshoes, shooting, badminton, shuffleboard, table tennis and bowling! NANCY ARVANITIS

California USBC inducted three women into their Hall of Fame who were ardent supporters of bowling in California. BVL 2011 REPORT

BVL Committee – The Bowlers to Veterans Link Hospitals and Presentations Report 

On behalf of the bowlers in California, the CUSBC BVL Committee has donated $117,250 to the following Veterans Centers in California and $10,000 to the National BVL office for 2010-2011.  Since 1959 through 2010-2011, the California BVL Fund has donated $8,683,375.20 to our California Veterans.  We want to Thank all of you for your continued support of the California BVL.

2011 HoF MERITORIOUS SERVICE RECIPIENTS – WITTMAN, JR

2011 Hall of Fame Inductee
Clarence (Butch) Wittman, Jr.

Butch was born in 1940 and was raised in Como Park, Minnesota. His father was in the bowling business of building lanes and pro shops. Butch assisted his father by repairing pin setting machines, building bowling lanes and working in his pro shop drilling balls and waiting on customers. He set pins all through high school at 3 different centers and eventually graduated from Washington High School.
