The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) has been creating assets since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March to help support leagues, bowling centers, associations and members in order to return to bowling in a safe and responsible way. USBC RULE CHANGES FOR 2020-21 SEASON

The following rules have had modifications made for the 2020-21 season. We have indicated what has changed in each rule and where practical, we have stated the new rule in its entirety. (continued on back)

RULE CHANGES Rule 400 – Youth Membership Eligibility
Reduces the age limit for youth membership to 18 from 20.

New Rule
USBC Youth membership is available to an individual who has not reached their 18th birthday prior to August 1 of the current bowling season. BALL SPECIFICATIONS – EFFECTIVE 8/1/20

  • A bowling ball’s oil absorption rate must be more than 2 minutes, 15 seconds for the ball to be approved
  • Elimination of balance holes; bowlers may have up to five holes for gripping purposes and all must be used on every delivery
  • No-thumb bowlers would need to mark by scribe, engraver or tool near the intended center of palm with a plus (+) mark
